HOW TO: Fix a Blue Screen on an Android Phone

I was traveling in Cuba and my phone (LG G3) randomly died - permanently. Unfortunately, there was no Internet and my photos I had taken didn't back up, so I thought they were gone forever. Here's how I fixed my phone and recovered my photos:

1. Encountered a "Blue Screen of Death" when starting my phone. It looks like this:

2. Found this helpful thread, which suggests the issue is a poor soldering job on the motherboard and can be fixed by baking

3. Removed the tiny screws on the back of my phone. Removed SIM card. Removed the connector ribbons (you can use your fingernails to pull the ribbons off the motherboard). Removed motherboard (after removing all screws, the motherboard should come off with a light tug. It's L shaped and displayed in one of the photos below).

4. Put the motherboard in a Pyrex dish, baked at 360 degrees for 10:00 minutes.

5. Let cool for ~5 minutes. Reconnected ribbons, sim card, back of phone (so the power button could be used). Booted up, and voila! (I'm running a jailbroken Android, which is why the little guy is blue)

Note that this is just what I did and I'm not responsible for what happens to your phone, but it seemed to work for a lot of people. Hopefully whoever has the same issue finds this page and it works for them!

In the mean time, I switched to iPhone. I'm not sure how long this oven-baking trick will last, and I'm tired of poorly manufactured phones.
